Fished out of Barcelona 2 days. Fish had scattered from where we found them last, 3 days of NE winds helped that.
Couldn't buy a bite in the am. Friday never boated a fish till 11am and Saturday not till 1pm. Friday put 4 fish in boat with one at 12# and Saturday 8 eyes and 3 steelies from 1pm to 4:30.
Almost all the action came off dipsies at #2 and 120'lead using meat rig with blueberry muffin. Look from state line to right in front of harbor 80-120' of water.

My son and I were supposed to go th the eastern basin Sunday and Monday, but I had sent ny Bottomline Tourney Master sonar back for service on the 1st of August due to the depth reading disappearing and the scroll stopping, and as of today,8/12, they have not returned it to me. They said that they could not find the problem, so they are overnighting me a new one. I had planneed on going out of Dunkirk or Cat Creek and going east. Did you hear of anyone catching anything further east, or is there a reason for you to be heading west, or is it the deeper water, possibly cooler? I am going to try for later in the week, but I heard of a cold front coming and the wind picking up to 20-25 knots, which also includes higher waves.
Good luck.

Walt.. As long as I can find fish I prefer Barcelona for several reasons..
1 It's the closest launch for me, Dunkirk is at least another 20 minutes added to a 2.5 hr trip to Barcelona.
2 Dunkirk is always a zoo to launch out of and worse getting off.
3 If it blows I'm only 20 minutes from Chautauqua.
I wouldn't hesitaite to go out of Dunkirk or the Catt if fish werent also at Barcelona. Friend of mine from Buffalo has been fishing both Catt and Dunkirk and doing well.
I was only 1.5 miles out of harbor when we quit on Saturday and catching fish!

Thanks for the reply, and I am 6 hours from that whole area and for me, an extra 20 minutes at that point means nothimg. I have to agree with you about Dunkirk, as when we went in July the launch was a zoo!One other thing, when you say meat rigs, are you meaning crawler harnesses, and the blueberry muffin being spoons or Reef Runners, or what?
Thanks for you info.

Yes, crawlers. The blueberry muffin I refered to was the harness blade. I run the #4 willow leafs. The ones producing well for me come from Bills Hooks on the west side of Dunkirk, he hand paints this one.

From the weather.com site and the NWS/Lake Erie site, I figure we will hit the Lake on Friday and Saturday. Bottomline sent me a new head unit (n/c), even though mine was 3 years old (but had been back 3 or 4 times). I know where Bill's Hooks is, as I stopped there in July when we were up last, along with Todd Frank last year when I prefished with him at the PWT. This will probably be my last trip to Erie this year, as it is the last of my vacation, and the six hour trip can be a killer on the weekend for a days worth of fishing! Keep all the posts alive, maybe I can get "sick" on a Friday, if the fishing stays good!!!!
