Fished the eastern end of the trenches yesterday. Worked out from the 42.10 to the 42.15, no further west than 80.26. Didn't do all that great. Ended up with 5 steelies in the box. Lost a steelie and two eyes. Boated one eye that was too small to keep. All fish came on stingers. From what I was hearing on channel 68, nobody else was having any better luck on the eyes. Got a late start because of the weather. Marked a lot of fish, but just couldn't seem to catch 'em. What's the deal with the walleye on Erie these days? Certainly nothing like the good old days.

I heard reports of limits of eyes south of the trench in 40-50 ft.Is anybody able to confirm this? Early in the summer I was fishing this same area with good success but the trash fish were like 20 to 1.I have been traveling to Lorain each weekend and the fishing is like the good old days, with fish average 22- 24 inch. These fish are staying in 40-50 ft.
