View Full Version : Where do you usually fish from?

I'm currently rigging up a 1992 Lund 1800 Pro V boat with a Pinpoint trolling motor and two Pinpoint graphs. Given that I'm getting the extension so that I'll be able to steer the bow mount from anywhere in the boat I'm just trying to visualize where I will usually sit or stand in the boat while fishing. This will have some impact on where I place the graphs. My console is quite close to the front on this boat, so I'm wondering if just a swivel mount at the console will cover the bow location as well. Any input on mounting locations from you as to something I might be missing is appreciated!
Thanks, JT

Since that's where I have a bait station and a livewell, I usually fish from the bow, especially if I'm poking around in shallow or weedy water.

I have a PinPoint 7520 on the helmside console on a swivel just as you suggest, and it serves both the bow and the helm in good fashion.

I have a 99 ProV 1800. I have a MNKota Auto Pilot with a remote foot control. I always sit in the bow when using the bowmount. I have my sonar on the front deck and the transducer mounted to the bottom of the bowmount. For back trolling and hovering I have a MNKota 74 Backtroller. I have the sonar mounted on the right side gunnel. For pulling boards and cranks I use a 9.9 hp yamaha and use the dash mounted sonar. TGG

I'm probably a little different than most but I actually do most of my fishing from the back of the boat. The bow mount control (MinnKota) reaches to the back, and I can see both fishfinders and reach all my tackle best from there. Also I do a lot of river trolling with the gas kicker, so that's how I got in the habit of being in back.
