Hi Guys. I want to take my Dad fishing on Lake Erie and would like to catch a few steelhead, walleyes and some perch. Can this be done from one location? My boat is not large, so we cannot go out too far. The boat is only an 18. I have fished for steelhead around the Grand River and Chagrin river mouths and have done well, but what about the walleyes? The steelhead should be staging around the river mouths by now. What about fishing around Geneva state park? Thanks, Ohio fisherman

Don't know about the areas you mentioned but if you wait another 3-4 weeks you ought to be able to do Perch, Eyes, and Steelhead within a mile or two of the Vermillion River. Maybe a few more miles for the eyes but you should be able to get all three.
Good Luck,

Steve - thanks for the information. I would like to take my dad out in the next couple of weeks because his health is not good and he cannot tolerate too cold of weather plus he is leaving to visit my brother in Texas for an extended stay. So, fishing needs to happen in the near future.
However, I would love to learn some spots around the vermillion and huron area for later this year. It would be nice to get out for some later fishing. Fall fishing is just wonderful - cool weather, a thermos of tea, and some hot fishing!
Take care, Matt

Try out of Lorain or Vermillion. Eyes and Pearch have been good off and on. You just have to find them. If you have a marine radio and a GPS you should be able to get help on location. Steelhead should be picking up any time now. I have a 17 + and I go all over the Lorain area. Just keep an eye on the sky and an ear to the radio.
See Ya on the water!
