I'm heading up to Pierre, SD this weekend and would appreciate a fishing report from anyone who has fished this area recently. I'll post a report when I get back.

Just returned from Pierre this Monday. Fished Friday and Saturday on Sharpe and did very well. Caught about 30 fish on Friday and 50 on Saturday. Fished at St George and drifted the log shore in 12 to 18 ft of water with bottom bouncers and crawlers. Fished on Oahe Sunday and caught 9 fish in Cheyenne River. We went way up river and fished near the water pumping station 20 to 35 ft deep.

Mike & Rick, Thanks for the info. Looks like we start on Sharpe. I'm not familiar with St. George, is it past Stoney Point on the south side of the river. Mike did you do any good in the tin shack hole? Thanks again guys for your help.

Fished the Hole both days but not much luck. Seemed the fish were at St. George. Its down the lake and on the south bank just pass some high banks the timber starts on the shoreline and runs for a 1/2 mile or so....good luck

I believe your refering to FORT George. Boat ramp is just down river of the twin bridge area east of Pierre, and yes, below Stoney Point.

Brian, You are probably right about the name. The Walleyes were stacked like cord wood in there....but that was last week.

Just got back from Lake Sharpe. Fished 2 1/2 hours last Friday evening and two of us caught 4 walleyes, with 2 over 18in. at Stoney Point. Saturday was cold, windy and wet. Nothing at Stoney Point, caught several under size fish at Ft. George and the wind made it tough. Went back to the Farm Island area and limited out there under calmer wind conditions. Fished this morning for 3 hours and ended up with 5 keepers. Overall we didn't slaughter them, but did OK.

Not a bad trip after all. What baits were you using and how deep were the fish.

Sounds like you did OK Hogslammer. The wind was tough there last weekend too.

tab, Most of the fish were caught on Lindy rigs and Bottom bouncers with 70% of the fish on the minnows and 30% on crawlers. Did catch a few on jigs and minnows mainly when the wind wasn't howling. Also caught most of the fish in about 12' of water and 15' at Ft. George. The walleyes were definitely not stacked like cord wood at Ft. George on Sat morning. There was a section of water in the Farm Island area where they were stacked quite thick Sat afternoon where we limited out, but they weren't there the next morning.
