Does anyone know where to order air ride seats and what is a good seat besides glyde and ride?

I would not look past the Glyde-Ryde seats. They work excellent an the Company stands behind them.

Don't even bother looking elsewhere. Glyde-Rydes are the way to go. Just remember to mount them 4 inches back from the original bolt pattern of your existing standard.

I agree with all of the last responses that have been posted. I'm a Chiropractic Doctor and have recently came in contact with the glyde ryde product and feel they are an exceptional product for the overall protection of the fishermans spine. I hope to get in contact in the future with glyde ryde to further explore there line of products, because I have many patients that could benefit from this great product. Do yourself and your back a favor and check them out. As always "Remember it's the adjustment that counts." Dr. Mike Mortenson, D.C. (Walleyedoc)

LAST EDITED ON Feb-11-01 AT 10:25AM (CST)[p]This is one post where everyone agrees...so far at least. Not to beat a dead horse, but I too agree with the comments. Call John at the number Eric posted or visit the website. They do take up a tad bit of room on mounting , as was said, but most boats can handle this with no problems.
One thing that amazes me are the folks who will buy a "knock-off" at an extremely cheap price - only to have it fail and/or not support their weight as well. I understand wanting to save money, but many of these same people are using high-end rods, top of the line electronics, good trolling motor, etc.
For the price of a decent depthfinder or GPS, you can buy a Glyde Ryde seat that will last, save your back, and keep you very comfortable for a long time. If there is a better suspension system out there, you sure don't hear much about it.
Great company...great support...great people...great product.

I have heard good things about the Ultra-ride also. Has anybody out there used these? They are priced comparatively and have heard both products are great. I believe their website is www.ultra-ride.com. The only negative I've heard about both types is that the are noisy (Squeaky springs).

Please explain the reason for mounting them 4" back from standard? What does this mean? Thanks Wiz

The seat sits "in" the aparatus and not "on" a traditional pedestal. As a result, if you mounted them in the same holes your pedestal mount was in, you'd be kissing the dashboard with your knees.
Hope this helps!

Thanks for the info....I will be mounting this seat in the front of my boat faceing back toward the stern.....this should not effect seat location at all?? Was hoping to use the same holes to mount this base? Wiz

Proper adjustment (backing the screw 1/8 turn) on the tensioning screw will stop the sqeek on the Glyde Rides.

I work for a heavy duty truck parts distributor and we sell air seats with self contained 12V compressors. One of my friends recently installed one in his Ranger 690 using only the suspension and modifying it to accept his regular seat that came with the boat.It works unbelievably well. Hardly feel a thing in rough water.Seat suspension and compressor is available without actual seat and costs about $300.00

Sounds like a hot setup.....how often does the compressor run on this unit?? Is it a bulky unit? How do you set the tension for different weight persons? Thanks, wiz
To adjust for different weights you add or remove air with push-pull switch. The only time the compressor runs is when you add air. There is also an angle adjustment on the shock that works in conjunction with the air bag.Unit is probably around 40 to 50 pounds.
I have an Ultra Ride and I love it. No complaints.
