That is my question, I can buy Premiers for $74 and Avid for $150, I am not a walleye fanatic but do like the feel of quality equipment. I am mainly a musky guy and I enjoy using top of the line equipment there, on top of this rod will be a Stradic 2000 series. My fishing for eyes consist 90% of 1/8 oz. jig fishing in rivers 6 to 20 feet down. The combo will also be used throwing Rapalas on the rocks for smallies in between periods of not catching muskies or walleyes, which is more often than I care to admit. Also along those lines I now spool up with 8# sensithin, would sensitivity increase a butload by going to the spectra based lines? I use Powerpro on the musky setups and would never go back to mono on them, would it be the same on a walleye rod. Thanks

Tough question, and for the record I've never used either rod.Just the same, I think I know what your going through.I've caught lots of fish on ordinary middle of the road equipment, such as the Roach designed rod by Berkeley. However,I got my hands on a higher end rod this year and love using it.Jigging is one area that a nice rod can really show it's stuff.
As for using a superline, I think the more expensive sticks, since they are thinner and stiffer, are not really designed for no-stretch lines.

My wife has a premier series jigging rod, I have a Loomis. Needless to say, this causes a great deal of fun arguements in the boat. I have to admit though, for the price you can find a better rod than the premier. If you are not fanatical, I think you would love this rod. If you are clumsy, or just have a bit of bad luck, consider the Avid. They come with a lifetime warranty where the primier only comes with two years. Either way, your buying a high end rod, so I suggest you look at the Loomis series as well. I'm not saying they're better, I've gotten enough flack from my wife for trying. But if your going all out on your next purchase, look at both companies, and buy the one that feels the best in your hand........take care

The last post was supposed to say you can't find a better rod for the money, not you can. (IMHO)
