I want 2 know if fire ball jigs with stinger hooks work good for walleye and pike. Thanks.
last fall while fishing i was getting short bit, i swictched to fireballs and the % of hookups was tremendous. i was not using the stinger hook, it seemed that going with the short shanked hook is what made the difference.

Walleye Killer,
The Northland Tackle Fireball jig is an excellent jig for Walleye fishing. As dh said the short shank hook is very effective for good hook ups. It puts the minnow closer to the jig head. I always use the stinger hooks. They do not seem to effect the number of bites I get as compared to not having one on. It is amazing how many fish you catch on the stinger. I like to hook the minnow near the dorsal fin, making sure I have a little slack in the stinger line. If you buy them in bulk buy the stinger hooks with the 2" line for walleye size minnows and the 3" line for larger pike minnows. The Fire-Ball jig is a lot better set up than just putting a slip on stinger over the shank of a regular jig. If I can be of more help drop me a line. Catch A Big One! - Tom

I use fireballs with the single stinger hook jigging the summer weed edge. It's my favorite. Most of the walleye seem to come on the jig rather than the stinger.
