I know you guys are probably trying to figure out a way to get out this weekend and thought I would bring this up for discussion. At this point marineweather.com is calling for 5'-7' waves on Sat. and 2'-4' waves on Sunday with winds out of the S.W.. My concern is the water clarity and the bite on Sunday following this blow. How many of you have confidence fishing after these conditions? It's a lot of work for me to get up to Huron and I sure don't want to give it a shot if it's hopeless. Is it possible to have a good day on Sunday? I'm looking for insight-not a "you'll never know until you try". Thank you.

Normally after several blow days it takes a good 2 days for the fishing to improve. However, this year for whatever reason seems to be not following that pattern. On two separate occasions this year we went out in diminishing wind conditions from 4 - 6 to 1 - 3's and caught almost our limit both times. On those conditions we caught them on spoons.
In the last week, the fishing has slowed on the most part, fish are scattered due to probably a number of reasons so this weekend may be poor to begin with high wind or not. Recently, it appears the bite is on the switch to cranks...
Looking at the long range forecast, it looks like a blistery fall so in the short time it will be bumpy. If you are able to wait the Nov. gales out then there are probably calmer days coming shortly, I hope.

I hate to be the bearer of bad tidings, but we tried to fish today in the eqivalent of coffee with heavy cream. It didn't matter if we looked in front of Huron or,in the case of one charter captain, all the way to the Canadian border. Mud. In three hours of fishing, we didn't move a rod. At 11:00 we called it a day. With the winds coming in tonight, I won't even look at the lake, flat water or not, for at least a week. Make your own decisions, but you won't see me on the water.

In the MI waters of Erie the walleye can sometimes be hammered in the mud. Is it the time of year that makes a difference? This will be my first trip to Huron and it doesn't look good.

We have been in the Huron area since the 18th of Oct, and will be there till Nov. 19th.
The fishing is not bad at all. as a matter of fact it has been Awsome. One of our group had a limit of walleye every time out except one.12 fish In two weeks we had to sit out two days.
The past three day blow has definately had an effect. we all fished all day Thursday in the coffee with cream, No bites.
So, the fishing is good, now we will wait till mud settles a little.

my experience is the water never really gets riled up in there too bad no matter what the waves have done. 4-7 miles out should be ok water. Good breeze though. Great for casting. Really need 2 foot or better to cover enough ground. Would cast rather than troll. May need drift sock though. I wouldn't go in anything less than 21 feet however. Still, my advice is wait for better weather.
