Here's the scenario--I don't get out much, so of course I would like to be successful ;-)
At this point, the weather looks like it is going to cooperate for this weekend. I drive from central Michigan, and I've been seeing some decent reports for perch in Lake St. Clair, lower Detroit River, and Lake Erie near Monroe. I'd go to any of these.
What would you regulars suggest? My boat is 17' with 50hp, so I'd rather not travel beyond 10 miles to the fishing spot if possible.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

St Clair has been tough. Seems like the guys that are doing the best are going to Canada. The few perch I have been getting have been in 14 - 16 FOW, BIG, but far between. Better then sitting home though, so I'll probably be out there again this weekend. Can't speak for Erie.

I fished the 31st out of bolles and the lake was quite muddy after a couple of days of east winds. Needless to say the fishing was very poor and I caught just two perch. I went past the channel, over 8 miles and the water was still muddy. Maybe after a couple of days of stable weather the fishing might pick up. call erie party shop at 734-457-0006 and maybe they can give you a more recent report.
Good luck Tennessee Tuxedo

Hi Flying fish,
Fished erie on the 7th all the way from bollees to consumers (at luna pier) and caught only one stinken perch. Water quality was good too. Talked to someone at the ramp and they said it was slow for them also. Let me know if you have any luck, they have been doing good on the ohio side before the blows but I don't know how they have been doing lately. Good Luck
