Does anyone know if in lakes that have both,..are Emeralds much of a forage fish for walleyes? I'm not sure of their (emeralds) range in the water,..I thought they were mostly top water minnows(?)

Subfish, Here is a link to a picture showing Lake Erie forage for Walleye. I downloaded this quite a while ago and can't remember the site it came from, but emeralds seem to be a large portion of Walleye diet in the east central basin and less so in the Western basin. Hope the link works it's to a place I store some of my pictures.

I clean a lot of walleye that come out of the western end of Lake Erie.I find more Emerald shinners in them than anything else.Number two is perch. Nunber three is shad.We clean ton's of fish on a daily bases we watch to see what they are eating and what size there eating. good luck fishing

I checked out that link, it is picture # 18 of 18, so I checked out the other pictures on the site.... Have those guys ever heard of "Catch and Release" ??? They had some dandies, but they looked like they beat them with a baseball bat.

Thank you guys!,..very interesting,...I've found it hard to find much about the life of Emeralds despite my online searches. This is very helpful!
