Here is what I want to know gents, Have the Walleye turned on yet on the south end of the lake by the dam? I usually fish this time of year with Cicada's & Sonars in that area.
Thank you!

Spunkeye,

Walleye are hitting reasonably well in that area. The water temp. was down to 44 degrees on Sunday. Guys seem to be fishing the normal areas and using blade baits. The fishing in general seems to be a little slower than last fall, atleast for us, but its not bad at all.

Hope this helps. This information comes from WCO John Bowser dated 11/06/02. Good luck and let us know how you did.

"Pymatuning Lake- The fall run of Walleye has begun in earnest this week with several boat loads of fishermen out braving the cold weather. Most of the activity right now is on the south end of the lake around the handicap point where we placed all the gravel beds this year and further south to just above the gatehouse on the dam. Everyone seems to be keying on the west side of the lake. Guys are doing real well with minnows and jigging sonar's and jigs tipped with minnies. Be aware of the weather and your temperature though as storms can come up very fast and Hypothermia can be potentially life threatening. Wear lots of layers and wool if possible as that will keep you warm even when wet. Have some high energy snacks with you and a thermos of something warm to drink (stay away from alcohol as that will actually lower you bodies temperature). And last but not least always carry a cell phone with you to contact someone when you are in trouble."

Now this the way it should be. No slamming anyone on who said what or who knows the most about fishing etc. I waited a couple of days to see what kind of replies I would get. Thank you very much for the info. Spunkeye

Spunkeye.....do you know of any bait shops open this time of year on the Ohio side? I talked with LCL and he said Duck and Drake was closed for the season. Thanks, Boggsy

I most certainly do! You can go to Gateway Bait & Tackle which is located on route 85 (Main Street) in Andover and their phone # is 440-293-7227. Owners Russ & Greta Williams. They have fat heads and just about any kind of bait you can imagine. I think they open about 8:00 A.M. which may be a little to late for you. Also, Poff's Place which is on the PA side will be open about that time and his phone number is 724-927-2462. I think Jamestown Livery is closed for the year as well as all of the rest. Hope this helps you out. Good fishing! Spunkeye

I will start giving eye reports again on the daily action.BUT as soon as someone start any crap then it will be a cold day in #ell before I make another fishing report again.I have not made a report since April because I was tired of all the non members of Walleye Central giving me a bunch of crap and as soon as someone uses my user name please report it to Scott Golden at WC.
Any hay we have been catching eyes from the causeway on 1/8 oz jigs and 3 inch tales have not used minnows.just plane jigs & twisters in the evenings have been fishing the east side shallow water in the mornings have been fishing the the west side of the causeway in the deeper water dont miss the action eyes are on the winter feed they are spitting up shad so try it out and dont miss the fall run its a long way to Ice fishing season and longer wait to spring run.
I forgot to tell you all I got 4 legal eyes thursday 11/7/02

Wow,,,a fishing report. Just want to say thank you. I've been watching this board for about as long as you've been gone and this is one of the first reports I've viewed.

Yes I've heard from a few friends that the hit is on. All I need to do now is get down out of the tree and pick up the fishing pole. Sounds like cicadias, sonars, and vibies and you can't go wrong.

Again,,thanks,,,nice not to feel the tension,,its fishing...good day.
