LBDN - Spring Trip ?

I fish LBDN in the fall and have a great time.....is a Spring trip
worth the drive up from Ohio ?

For those of you that will tell me to fish Lake Erie, I do that, but I
like to get out on LBDN with my Wisconsin buddies for a long weekend
and a friendly tournament...several of my Ohio friends suggested a Spring trip to LBDN and I thought I'd post for your thoughts.

Do you recommend the Spring Opener weekend, or wait til the following weekend as that may be less crowded ?

I have fished the opener up there for several years now, and we always bring home fish. Never get to many big ones, but plenty of eaters. There will be lots of boats, especially if the weather is descent, but we never have a problem finding our own places to fish.
