I heard from a pretty good source that goes up to West Harbor all year around that some guys he knows have been whackin the 'eyes pretty good at night off the rocks off of Kelly's. He didnt say which side of the island but he said they were thick.

Brian,
I was talking to a guy Fri. where I work(Gander Mtn.Niles)and he was buying all kinds of Husky Jerks and Smithwicks. I asked him if he was just re-stocking his box.He said he was flying Sat. morning to Middle Bass Island to get some hog walleyes. His buds have been catching them for the past week. He said they were wading at night. Bet thats somecold fishing.LOL

Well-somebody's gotta check this one out. Am planning to explore Kelly's Island, both Wednesday and Thursday nights. I also heard a good report from a second-hand source. Will post a report when I get back. Gonna take the ferry over to the island. Does anybody know how predictable the ferry is? Am I gonna make it over there but not back? Not a bad predicament if the 'eyes are biting!! Heh,heh, heh!
Thanks for any input.

After turkey day the ferry only runs 3 times in the morning and 3 in the evening . I know of people who have stayed to late at the party and didn't get their cars off of the island for months a couple of winters back .

I was thinking of coming up this weekend for some eyes and was wondering if Kelly's Island is the best spot now or if the Huron pier is? I have never fished Kelly's by wading so any help would be appreciated.

Kelly's makes sense...........Ive never tried it yet, but there are plenty of places to fish for the nite Eyes........ Most of them private but if you know the island, you know where where Im talkin about...........The Ferry will run every day thru Winter if there is no ice...Alot less than the other 3 seasons.............Basically anywhere on Lake Erie that you can find dock or nice shore access to the main lake, you should be in business...
Looks like bad weather again this Holiday weekend.........May take some creativy to catch Walleye this weekend !!
Happy Turkey Day to all reading this !!

Fished Kelly's Island last night. Scouted around just before dark, found "the rocks", also found the ice on the rocks, realized my net was WAY too short, wasn't anxious to risk falling in with nobody else around. Eventually found a nice dock on the south side of the island. Cast my butt of for six hours. Had one fish on, but it was smallish--about 3 pounds. Kinda windy from the West? Southwest?, it cut right into me. Crossed back over to the ferry early Thanksgiving morning and now I'm getting ready for some turkey. Happy Thanksgiving to all!
