Depends on the darn traffic, I live in Greeley and I think it takes me about 3 to 3 1/2 hours. Collie

I'm in Collie. Let me know when it's for sure and maybe we can get Brian to stop hunting long enough to go with us.

Let me know when you Easteners are coming. I have been fishing the Gap for 20 years. Not what it used to be but some nice perch now. The walleye are all but gone. W&R

Kevin,
I'm hoping to learn about this ice fishing stuff when Pete does his ice fishing seminar at next month's meeting. Then i'll be up for some cold water fishing,so count me in too!
Instead of shooting holes into the ozone in the past while hunting. i'm actually hitting something this year.Thank god my dog was patient with me.
PLEASE PRACTICE SELECTIVE HARVEST !!!

You probably have a good selection of Power Bait by now, with all of those trips to Lake John. Whats next Brian, going to take up golf?

Collie,
I tried that golf thing, but i think i had more fun looking for lost golf balls. Is beer a requirement for this sport ?
Will never use power bait while fishing, dont own any at all!Them slimers are easy enough to catch! How many jar's do you own collie?
PLEASE PRACTICE SELECTIVE HARVEST !!!

That sounds like an interesting trip. Didn't the state record perch come out of there last year? I might be up for that. Perch fillets are a good substitute for walleyes. Do you think the ice will be thick enough by then?
From the CO State Park website today:
Fishing and ice skating are the primary activities right now. Trout, Walleye and Perch are the primary fish at Rifle Gap. Very large (12"-17") Perch are not uncommon. The reservoir has iced over. There is 5" of ice on the west side. East side still has some open water.
Sounds fine to me.

Hey Collie, pretty amazing the walleye fishery was started with just 200 6 inch fish 30 years ago? To bad someone couldn't just do a midnight run with a couple of bags of fingerlings.
I use to fish there in the mid 90s and caught alot of nice Brown trout and smallmouths, but never caught any eye's? I did meet several locals around there who fished for walleye's at night though!

I meet a guy and his father there last year who live close to Silt and they fish it quite a bit, he said that the guys who fish for walleyes catch them and are tight lipped about it, I can appreciate that, I can be the same way. We caught some nice perch last winter and I want to fish into the night to see if we can get into some eye's. It might be a challenge considering you cannot use live minnows there. A bad time of year to look for some extra small water dogs I suppose. I have that friday scheduled off, so if it sounds like something you all might want to do. We can get the ball rolling. I dont know if Glendo has any ice yet, may be up at Elk Horn. Seeley Lake here in Greeley was covered the other morning, so made be its locking up north?
