I can't speak for many parts of the big ice sheet firsthand, but I did cut 16" by 24" blocks of ice late this week up and down the whole north half of the lake, and found an average of 9" in thickness. This is very accurate since the cutting was done by chainsaw. I doubt there is or will be much big house pulling on most of the lake within the next week or the following week. Temps for the coming week are still in the high teens and low 20's for lows. With no snow on the ice...three nights of single digit temps would help alot. The forecast is not ice making weather....but maybe by Christmas...which would be normal for pulling the big houses. Check with the resorter.....they might gamble and pull a few and then cart clients out by fourwheeler. That works fine.
Good luck!

just got back from fishing the north end. i also found a consistent 8 and a half to 9 inches of ice. unfortunately the fishing was poor. walked out of the red door. easy walk with good ice and no snow. talke to a creel survey officer who had been around the lake and he concurred the fishing has been pretty slow. as far as rentals you should be ok. many of the resorts on the east and south sides pull pretty big rental houses on wheels out with a four wheeler and transport you and your gear the same way.(bundles up for that ride)chances are if your resort took your reservation they will get you out to the house, but call to make sure

I went out of Liberty Beach on Sat. they have it marked out to 3-mile reef. The ice is good but it's a bumpy ride, lots of ice piled up from the big winds a few weeks back. I found a couple nice sized perch in 34' during the day and then moved in to 8 - 20' that evening with a big "0". I talked to a few other groups on the ice and no one was doing well.
thanks for the updates, i appreciate it. i'm not overly concerned about the catching part, i just hope to get out there! thanks again.
