Fished the East side on Sunday. 1 eater and 2 under 10". Water was murkey and fishin' was slow. Switched to a Buckshot Rattl'r but it didn't work much better than a pimple. Any ideas for murkey water? Also looking for ice conditions after the recent weather.
Thanks.

Yes...the water is murky and I don't think anything is better than the shiney spoons. Fishing has been generally tough all over the big lake. The ice conditions are the same...about 8" to 10" inches. Rain/snow didn't bother it or change it.

Mile Lacs is puttin' out some hawgs if you find the right place! Try putting yourself over a drop area on a flat and sit there with arm-a=jiggin' as much as possible, they will come!

was there sat-sun, south east corner off big point. water still a bit murky and slow. 1 eye, 18.5", 1 perch, 13" in 26 feet of water. not a great deal of snow, good atv ice though. would have liked to fish the flats.

Yes...there has been some traffic out there. I haven't been on a long venture yet but I hear it's tough for the most part...all over.
My neighbors were on two differnet flats with three houses over the weekend and came up empty. Did they do it right? I dunno. That's what I hear. I have had "some" success in the shallows at sun-up and sundown. No legal keepers yet. The ice will be pushing a foot thick or more by the weekend. Snow free yet. Good for ATV's. I only fall down once a day on the glare ice walking. No good for snowmobiles without bogeys.

Happy Holiday's! Good luck....

Any improvement in walleye bite? Is running around from flat to flat worth the effort or should I stay on the shallow rocks. I'll be going out by Big Point and would also like to get into some perch to keep the kids interested.

Fished the NE corner Sat and Sun.Did ok Sat night , caught 6 one keeper and one about 26" the rest around 20" and a bunch of eelpout. All well after dark , 7pm until about midnight, over the rocks in 10' of water, lost more jigs then I caught fish by a long shot.Sun went out deper , pretty much no mans land 20 - 25' of sandy/silty mix caught another 6 but all were about 6" long or less even. The little guys acted like they were starving ,most were almost choking to death trying to eat 2.5" fatheads and full size Swedish pimples.did see a few bigger ones on the camera but they would eyeball things and just swim away.

Thanks to all who responded! Went out again yesterday. 12 to 14 inches of ice but I'm too leary of those pressure ridges to drive yet. Water clarity is improving and so is the fishing. 10 eyes with 2 in the slot. 5 over 22", what a blast! Also took home about 8 nice perch. I usually fish 7am to 5 pm. Good luck to all those who love this lake as much as I!

Hey Dan, (are you Dave's brother?)

With the ATV and now snowmobile travel so easy, I wouldn't hesitate to move alot but one would think IF you get on "the spot on the spot" on any flat, if it's gonna be good anywhere, you'll know at the first stop. Of course...they have to be there to catch'em. Fish the bottem of the drop off and out a few yards for perch and the slope or top edge for the eyes( on the flats). The shallow rock, if noise free, is fair these days. Hard to get a keeper but I've been gettin' a fish or two or three to bite most every evening session. Zero legal "keepers". Generally..it's anything but good. About 11"-12" of ice now. Some daring souls are now driving on the north end. One truck half way down yesterday....

Happy New year!
