First thing you should do is find out if the area you want to fish is in a "restricted" area. Most power-plants have restricted areas posted since 9/11. They do enforce these laws pretty rigidly.

As for your original question, I'm sorry, I don't know the correct answer. I would think though, that the warmer water would bring in the baitfish that the perch forage on, so there is a good chance you could find perch there.

Just a guess though...I'm sure someone else will have the correct answer for you. ;-)

Have a safe and Happy Holiday.

Drew.
Perch, much like all other preditors fish on the food chain, are attracted by smaller fish/bait they eat. They are cold blooded, but can and will go into waters much warmer than their own comfort zone to chase and feed on available prey. I've persoanlly caught walleyes in Power Plant discharge waters approaching 90 degrees, while the main body of water was in the mid 60's. The alewife and shad are especially drawn to warmer waters in the winter, as they are themsleves a subtropical species that migrated here through circumstance. Warmer waters can also often magnify algae and plancton blooms, which is a big drawing card for all baitfish species. If I had to give one problem associated with fishing in hot water discharges, it would be that the preditors might be geting to much food and ignore your offerings.

Hi,
Both Powerhouses you mentioned have no restrictions on them.Have fished Monroe late in the year caught everything but yellow perch there.Walleye,Pike,Crappie,Steelhead,Catfish Largemouth and Smallmouth and I think some Spotted Bass,Bluegill. There is alot there .You have to Launch at Boles Harbor if it is open. They have been getting a few Steelhead and Walleye at Bayshore ,before the warm spell the launch was froze up.I dont know if it's open now.
