Hey guys. I want to go ice fish on New Years Day. Do any of you have any updates on the ice fishing? Eleven Mile? Lake John? Williams Fork? Granby? Thanks in advance.

Neal and I are heading to 11 mile tomorrow. We will be in his blue Chevy truck. I'm not sure where we'll be fishing. Maybe Neal will chime in. Sure would be nice to have more anglers. Especially if you have a power auger!!!!! LOL
Give me a call on my cell 720-308-2322 tonight. I might know more details then.

I have several areas in mind, but i want to see how many people are up there first? If the ice is solid I would like to fish off the islands in the channel for some Kokes?

Good luck Eric and Neal. I've decided to take a friend up to Lake John. She's never icefished before so I figure I have a pretty good shot at getting her lots of action up there although the fish probably won't be as big as the 11 Mile fish. Let us know how you do.

Got up at 4:30 got a 20 oz cup of coffee at 7-11 and headed south to pick up Eric. Then the ##### Blizzard starts. Now I am home wired to the gills with nothing to do! Don I hope you didn't head north and get caught in this?

Hey Neal-
Yes we did go to Lake John. From the foot of Berthoud Pass to the Lake John turnoff we had high crosswinds, ice, snow, ground blizzards, no road plows, etc. But at the lake it was spectacular weather, starry skies, no wind, temp in the 20's, and very light snow off and on through the day. However, the fishing was awful. We managed only 7 or 8 and they were all dinks. Sorry to hear you had such a miserable experience. It has to get better!

Don ,the fishing at lake john was pretty slow for me the last time up also. That's the beauty of a put and take species, lot's of fish when they put them in, but fishing slows when we take them out.I have talked to curley's in Douglas about Glendo,s ice condition's.They said that the ice is about 8-12 inches in elkhorn ,some walleye action reported , but mostly catfish. It's a little tricky getting on the ice though. Look for a safe spot if anyone goes.People are starting to go south to fish, but the ice isn't as thick. They also said they are trying to get a bait machine up and running at the bait shop in glendo. That would be nice for everyone coming from the south. They are also working on getting their website back up and running soon . If anyone want's to call them ,their number is 307-358-9394. Maybe we can get a group of people to go up there( or down) for some fishing, If the walleyes arn't biting ,the cat's should cooroparate , and they are alot of fun too!

Brian-
I'd be up for a trip to Glendo. I've never fished it but I sure have wanted to. As for Lake John, I was there three weeks ago and caught bunches of fish. I saw a fair number of fish on the graph yesterday but couldn't make 'em eat. Thanks for the info.

Brian, I would be honored to tote your auger. As long as you carry my fish. Collie

It's not surprising they were off! I have always had bad luck after a front pushs thru and i catch the tailend. I have had some really good days up at 11-mile right as the storm is approaching though! Of course then you risk getting caught out on the ice and being pummeled by the South Park Express!

Sorry guys, I should have posted something a little sooner, I have bumped going to Rifle for a couple of weeks. Things were a little messed up the last couple of weeks, my grand-mother passed away the day after Christmas down in Canon City and I have been running up and down the Front Range the last two weeks, between picking my mother up at DIA and getting her down there, to getting home for Christmas Eve and Day with my children and then heading back down the day after to be with my mother and grand-father, I have been running crazy. I know there was some intrest when I first posted the Rife trip, but if there is a concensus to do Glendo, by all means lets get it going here in the next couple of weeks. Collie
