View Full Version : put in bay ice fishing
Heading up to south bass on thursday via the air boat to do some fishing, never been up their before and was wondering how far of a walk it is to get to the west side of the island from millers ferry drop off area, if its to far of a walk what modes of transportation are there. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

GMC,Is the air boat picking you up at millers on the mainland.sounds like it is.they should drop you off on the west side of Island. It
could be a couple hundred yards or a mile or 2 depending on where they are catching fish.tell me are they running the air boat daily. If
they are could you try to post the schedule or phone # to make arrangments. would be greatful for any info.they might have a taxie
service but we always had to walk out to the fish.
GMC, Walldog, Iam going up on Tuesday and am leaving from the Miller ferry dock by airboat. Joe Kostura is the airboat captain. His telephone number is 1-419-285-3106. Reservations were required and the fare is $20 one way. He will be dropping us off at either the ferry dock on South Bass or the state park dock on South Bass. Our guide is picking us up there. Give him a call and see what he can do for you. I'll be fishing on Tuesday and Wednesday and I'll post my results on Wednesday night in case your interested. Good luck and be safe.

Rick, thanks for the come back.was thinking about coming up thur to fri.I do not have a guide but if the weather is'nt windy I do not need a shanty.I might try to get a guide lined up.just playing it by
ear right now.weather says rain coming in for the weekend might not
do to much to the island ice but would'nt make the mainland ice any
better.

Is there a limit to the amount of gear.....I have a 2 man portable....Thanks.....Jeff
I road over on the air boat last week. There is not a ton of room on it. He only takes up to 6 people. You might be able to take a two man portable shanty depending upon the amount of gear the other guys have that will also be on the boat with you. If the boat does not have 5 or 6 guys, and the guys who are sharing a ride with you, do not have a lot of gear, you might be alright. But if they have gear and it is a full boat, I do not know if there would be room for a portable shanty. The air boat is only a 21 or 23 foot boat.
