View Full Version : Banana Dike area
Has anyone had any luck fishing for walleye around the dike area or is this mainly a perch zone? Would like to try for both. Thanks in advance, Gill

A few walleye and pike will move into there later in the season chasing after perch before they spawn, but for the most part it's perch jerking.

I have a couple questions on Banana Dike. I wonder if the perch have picked up there yet. Would like to know what exit off Hwy75 to get off on while going North. And a few directions after the exit. Thank's much for any info. you can give,><> Jim

Probably the easiest way for you is to get off at the North Huron River Drive exit, go east. After about 2 miles, it will hit Jefferson. It might also be called US turnpike, it goes by both names down that way. You cant miss it either way. Turn left, you will see Bottom Line Bait and tackle. Get your bait there and ask him for directions. Be prepared for about a 3 mile walk once you get there.

Thank's for the info. would rather take an ATV. than walk that far if ice conditions are safe enough. Didn't know it was so far out there.

I dont think they allow any motorized vehicles back there.

The long walk is on the dyke itself, not the ice. No motorized vehicles of any kind are allowed on the structure, hence the walk from heck. Many guys rig up bikes with trailers for their gear.

Would like to walk in when the perch are in. Does anyone have any info on the bite recently and about how far one has to walk one way. Heard three mile and thinking that must be round trip in and out. One could ride a bycycle with a strapped buck on the back? Thank's Jim
