As most know Bombardier was the winner for bidding on the Evinrude/Johnson division. Good to know that "Rude" name will still be in the market. But I think it was interesting that Brunswick attempted a last minute effort to throw a wrench into the works.

It became clear during the court hearings that Brunswick was only trying to get their late bid accepted in order acquire the names and then get rid of a competitor. That attempt failed fortunately. Don't get me wrong here, I run a Merc myself.

I just wonder why Brunswick would attempt such action. Mercury has always held their own in the market place. Without competition the general consumers and eventually the product would suffer. Why change anything if there is no competing products. Besides, I heard that Brunswick was wanting to sell off the marine products divisions and stick with the indoor recreation, billiards and bowling.

Just a few thoughts to break up the cabin fever.
