Nd.
Those Big Warts as you call them, are a virus that all and any walleye can get in any lake system they swim in. And its usually spring time, when they are in the pre-spawn schooling mode that permeates this condition even more.
Now as for the Hot Ponds. I live about 1 mile form this almost historic Saginaw Bay water discharge cannal. It was the very first spot in the late 70' early 80's that the first replanted walleyes were caught. And it's given me some of my most memeorable and productive trips while trolling or slip jigging the current.
For many years though, the DNR was imposing a yearly fine on Consumer Power for the loss of thousands of walleyes and other game fish species, that would swim up as far as the power pumps and get killed.
Finally Consumers had enough and put up a net barrier about 150 yards up this cannal and now stops virtually all the fish from going up into the main cannal. This combined with the low Great Lakes water levels, has stifled a lot of the fishing success and access. And has made catching anything a window of opportunity condition. They were catching a few during December, but that has tappered off with the walleyes looking to run up and spawn soon in the main rivers.

Thanks for the reply Dan, but I was actually looking for info on the "toothy" critters- AKA Northern Pike. A good friend is a Esox fanatic. Thought I had heard of a decent Pike Bite on Husky jerks, but didn`t know when. Guess I Made that clear as MUD-huh! Sorry about that! As far as Bass "warts" ND, better than `Eye bumps- they`re kinda thin like Deer track soup!LOL. Thought You were going up after Sardines? Bob WC#253.
Still packing and getting ready for the Higgins lake sardines. After nearly thirty days of fishing the River, I need to re-tool the equipment.
An occasional pike can be caught on the Tib; downstream from G-ville and north of the Z-bridge on the Saginaw.# 7 Rap should do the trick.
Deer track soup and horn soup require lots of beer, but taste better than basswarts.
