View Full Version : Anyone know of a good net
I am looking for a good yet afordable net. Around 30 bucks. I checked out the brand new frabil nets and they were pretty flimsy and cheap if you ask me. Any advice moud be great. Thanks

The only net to have is the Loki. We have tried others over the years but Loki works the best. Never have trouble with the hooks getting caught.

Are you going to be trolling or pulling bouncers/rigs w/ long leaders? I like the Bass Pro walleye scoop. Handle adjusts from 48" to 72" to 96". It's very sturdy, lightweight, floats and costs about $35. I do prefer the older style aluminum over this years fiberglass. I've never had a hook tangle either. The lightweight is especially important if you fish alone much - netting with one hand while controlling the fish with the other.

I like Beckman Nets. It's a coated bag, so your hooks won't get caught in the net. It's sturdy, strong, and comes in a variety of lenghts and hoop sizes. They have a good warranty to back their product too. You can check them out at www.beckmannet.com.

Only one net comes to mind Beckman. More than $30.00. Worth the extra $$$'s.

I have one that fits your price range -- without looking, I think it's a DOT. Handle extends, and it worked well for me last year. An improvement would be a bag that releases your crankbait's treble hooks more easily (sometimes you have to work at it a bit).

I don't have an opinion as to which is best but I know where there is a free one if you can snag it. One and one half miles out from Herbst landing on lake Poygan. Very little use. Had for one week and netted maybe a dozen eyes before carelessly leaning it up and letting it fall over. I watched it float until I got there and then all of a sudden it sank just as I reached for it and all I grabbed was a few bubbles. My identicle new one now has the little hole at the end of the handle plugged so, if I ever do anything that stupid again, I will have a little more time to get my boards in and retrieve my net.
