Got up early Sunday posted my report on the big blow then I thought what to do now? Said to myself what ya gonna do today Jimmy sit on the couch watching the idoit box eating chocolate bon bons Heck no! my stuff was already loaded so I split for the bay. Started off boutell in 10 fow where I did pretty good the night before didn't see any fish for 2.5 hours so I moved north out in front of hoyles in 16 fow just inside the crack had a few fish come in the hole look at my bait then take off fast like they were looking at the devil himself. Got one 4 lb at 4:30 on the deadstick, fished till 6:15 with no more action. Wind was blowing about 15 mph with gusts maybe 25 out of the west kept a eye on that crack but it didn't budge. Ice conditions were excellent although I have noticed ice is much thinner south of boutell in the shallower water 10 inches tops. With temps predicted in the 40's to 50's after friday this week it won't take long to get shi##y out there. Next weekend will be my last weekend with snowmachine out there if that prediction is true but will walk out until it gets really bad. Good luck and good fishing....Jimmy

I'm guessing that SUPER BLOW we had is going to shake things up for at least 3 day fish wise, it usually does. Don't know if you noticed when that big blow was going on, but the water in the holes were pulsating up and down like waves. I know everybody loves what they call that "Walleye Chop" but it doesn't work that way when theres ice. They usually hit good on either side of something like that, but usually only after for a day or two on the back side. Or at least thats been my experience.
My heart has finally quit palpitating after my brief initiation to the polar bear club Saturday night. And after all day under the heating tarp in the garage, the big block of ice on my Big Bear is gone. So I'm thinking of heading back out Tuesday morning. Ya, I know what I said. But its that "get back on the horse" syndrome I have to do.
Dan,
Why don't you head over to Port Clinton,No pressure cracks to deal with and the fishing is way better. It is an all day bite over there, not like the bay where it is mostly in the evening. We are heading there Tues. morning your welcome to join us.Email me if you would like to go.redwards34@hotmail.com

Capt dan don't blame you for being a little shook up after that event. As far as going after the blow my attitude is you go fishing when you can I could so I did. With only the weekends to fish a guy can't be choosey. I kinda wanted to look at ice conditions too after that major wind. Sounds like big bear is out of the critical care unit and recovering nicely.

Jimmy.
Nope, can't blame you for getting out when the time presents itself. And I know your a bigger ice fan than an open water guy. And yup Big Bear "was" out of the critical care unit, until I seen that it had a bent tie rod arm today. And I also bent one of the aluminum round tubing arms on my shanty that I didn't notice as well. So I'll be on my knees all day tomorrow fixin and a polish'in.
