Hello,

After ice out and all summer long into the fall... what is Lewis & Clark Lake in Yankton, South Dakota like? What types of fish are there?

Looking for a hot spot....

Thanks.

Lewis and Clark or "Louie" as I affectionately call it is a typical Missouri River reservoir. One side of the lake is primarily shale and the other is mud flats. Good walleye/sauger fishing for moderate sized fish (not many pigs), decent smallmouth fishing, good catfishing, good white bass, and quite a few unwanted drum. It is a lake where one can catch alot of 15-20 inch eyes if you are on the right flat. Hot spots include the "colonies", "boy scout camp", and the "jigging hole". Locals are mostly river rats that know the lake like the back of their hand. It is about 22,000 acres at full pool and there is some current. Hope this helps.

Fishing is: One jerk waiting for another jerk at the end of his line.
