Looks like lake water temps are in the Mid 30's right now. Does anyone have any insight into how the water temp effects the walleye run up the detroit river? Is there a certain temp the water needs to be before the walleye will start moving up river?

On another note we typically fish the Trenton Channel area. How is the Ice there? Think we will be able to fish it the first weekend in April?

The first weekend of April will still probably have ice. Depends on the winds. There are always resident fish in the Detroit River to fish for. The temperature has a big effect on the run. My guesses mid to late April before the river gets into mid-40's. So who knows.
We need heavy rains and strong winds to break up the ice.

Was out yesterday. Water temp. is 37 right now. When it hits 40 is when they start to move in.
