Anyone ever use the wild river series by st croix? How well do they work on the river, for walleye and steelhead? Thinking about getting a 9 ft for longer casting range. Thanks Craig

Wild River rods are OK, but once you get used to a fine long stick, the Wild River Rods tend to feel like you have a club in your hand. If you can upgrade, I would HIGHLY recommend checking out the Avid 9 or 9 1/2 footers. Did I say highly recommend?
They go for about 170.00 and feel as good as the 1142 IMX, which is also an excellent rod. I would probably go with the 9 1/2 footer, but that's just me. I really wish St. Croix would come out in a 10 1/2' drift rod (say 4-10# rating) in the Avid series.

If your looking for a fun time with big fish(any fish) try the Wildriver 13 footer. They are great for drifting with live bait and in tight areas where boards are not practical they work fantastic. I use them with spinners and flat fish.
