Well here is the deal...

Last night was my Father inlaws Birthday dinner at the local Timber Lodge. This was my first time going out into a social environment since the big quit date. Of course there was a wait so we had to sit in the bar... And both of my inlaws are smokers so we had to watch them smoke. Then we were seated in the smoking section and spent the next couple of hours eating way to much good food. With a total of 4 smokers at our table I started to think one might be ok, and my wife was getting the same feeling from the look on her face. so we promptly asked for our bill and wished papa a happy birthday and then got the ##### out of dodge...

Yep I am at 57 hours & 45 min smoke free. Days are getting easer already, Nights suck tho. I seem to wake up every half hour and each time I do I think I should go smoke...

I have silkquit installed, thats a sweet little program to use. thank you for the suggestion.

and thank you to everyone again for all the support.

Now you know why I recommended staying away from people and areas associated with smoking for a while. Boy, you really made it through a big hurdle. It will continue to get easier and easier. My worst time was when I had a couple of drinks and my inhibitions went down. I remember my first milestone. It was the day that I got home from work and said wow, I haven't even thought about a cig until now. That day will be coming sooner than you think. Keep hanging in there, you just gave your wife the best valentines gift.

I'd be lying if I told you you almost have it licked. I quit smoking years ago only to hit the snuff can more often......traded one bad habit for another. Chewed copenhagen for around 16 years and "quit" several times only to get an incredible urge 2 to 4 mos. after tossing the last can in the trash. I finally made the total commitment to stop 7.5 years ago and have been successful at it. I would have to say the urge to either light up or take a dip finally left me after about 2 years.
Here's a suggestion that really helped me. I got the calculator out and figured out how much money I was going to save per week by not buying snuff and quickly realized I could save enough in a year to buy a new browning O/U shotgun. I bounced that idea off my wife and we made a deal. I have been using that gun for 6 years now.
You may want to pick out a new sonar, other equipment or a trip you have longed for and do the same thing for some added incentive.

Best of luck. You won't believe how you will feel after you have it kicked.

I increased my intake of vitamin 'C' and the 'B' complex of vitamins during my first month off the smokes. I used the 500% tablets and my doctor had no problem with that. I feel that it helped with the night craving and the one I missed the most - first step out of bed in the morning to get ready for work! That was my TOUGHEST!

I quit a few years back, so I "feel your pain". I found that when I got into those kind of situations (lots of smokers around and I couldn't escape), the "Nicorette" gum was a life saver.

The first three days are the roughest....

Congrats on quiting. It been 7 years now since I quit, and I was up to 2 packs a day.Believe it or not, I paid 75.00 and went to ome of those group Hipnotic seminars and Ive never touch one since. To tell you the truth I was very sceptical that it would work, but I did what they suggested and the cravings never hit me. Even the first time Iwent out partying with a bunch of smoking friends.Good luck and dont give in. P.J.

I am not a smoker, but one of my fishing buddies WAS. He lit the next cig from the butt of his current one, always had one in his mouth. He also went to hypnotist, thinking it would be a crock. To make long story short, he left the building, reached for a cig, "decided" he did not want it, and hasn't smoked (other than occassional cigar) in about 20 years.

I know some people haven't had luck with it, but my buddy's deal was just unbelievable - but true :)

Good luck and keep it up!

Ditto the Hans suggestion. I'm 1 year 35 days since quitting. My biggest concern was my first tournament day...it came and went without too much trouble but I always carry Nicorette gum in the boat & glove box of the truck, just in case! Good Luck, you are off to a great start.

As for today I am a nonsmoker, and I fully plan on keeping it that way.

the only real worrie I have is if I am not paying attention and bum one from someone, but I think that is what my dreams have been about for the last few nights.

Oh well all is good as of now, thank god for that
