Want to give my husband a camera to watch the lake trout he can't seem to catch when he's trolling deep in Lake Nipigon.
Every body else gets fish on spoons on down rigers but he does poorly. He says it mite not be so bad if he could see them at least.

I've tried that too, and it doesn't wor too well. The cable is so thick that it's difficult to keep the thing down, even if you attach it to your downrigger cable. Supposedly Walker makes a downrigger/camera combo that sends the picture using the downrigger cable. That would be the way to go.
I've got an AquaVu II IR camera with 50' cable that I'm thinking of selling. Email me if interested, Dennis@Climbing-Guides.com
Have your hubby email me. I will help him out. Ray

You are right on .
I saw one of those strike vision cameras going to town on Lake Ontario. That thing can be set up to see lures down over 100 feet in less than a minute.
My buddy thought he could do that with a camera that clips to a downrigger cable. I went out with him.
What a joke. The drag was way too much to get the camera down properly. because even the skinny rubber coated camera cables were way too thick. After playing for a couple of hours he just put it in the cabin of his boat.HE NEVER SAW HIS LURE ONCE.
As far as I'm concerned if you want to see trolled lures down deep you buy the strike vision system. It's more money than the ice fishing cameras but you get what you pay for.
