Action off Wind Wings at the reefs was
RED HOT today! Lots of nice eating fish
(18-23". The fish cleaning station behind
the gas station at Wind Wings was packed with
people at about 12:30 today.
The action was HOT. The big bite was from 9:00 am
until 10:30 am (on Wednesday the bite was on at
5:00 pm to 6:00 pm). Purple jigs were working
very well. So well, that bait stores in the area
were all sold out (they all say by Friday they
will be restocked).
Tipping the jigs with minnows really helped
and for those sly biters, a stinger hook was
helpful.
Also, blade baits were producing as well. The boat
pack was large, but boats crowded together and caught
fish. Trollers were not having much success. The ticket
were jigs. Also, a light green jig with a white body
was productive.
Reports off Kelley's and Marblehead, showed that things were
slow there for walleye. The Bay Bridge action in Sandusky
Bay is probably ended for the season. However, in years
past walleye action around the Sandusky Sailing Club in
the back bay, on some years, has been hot. Last year it
was not great. In 2000 and 2001 it was very good.
If the weather stays stable, Friday should be another
good day.
