Congrats........... now, just don't get cocky, it's done many of us in because we figure its licked. It'll still sneak up on you. The next hurdle for some reason is a week. Have you gotten the food cravings yet? Grab a piece of fruit imstead of munchies. Many of us put on a few pounds. Don't let that stop you. It comes off eventually.

I have got plenty of pounds to go around. a few more wont hurt me :)

I am not getting cocky yet, but the first thing I did this morning was go straight to the bathroom instead of looking for my smokes... thats whats easer.

Just remember, to remember why you are doing this.....this whole process of quitting is in your head. You have to give your mind the responsibility of running your body.

An ex-smoker was in a bar when a guy sat near him and started smoking profusely. The ex-smoker walked up to him and said, "I bet I can chop your pack of cigarettes cleanly in two with my bare hand." So the smoker handed over his pack of smokes. The ex-smoker made several practice karate-chop blows, then raised his hand, and as he swung it down his hand changed into a tightly clenched fist and he smashed the carton of cigarettes to bits. He then looked at the smoker and said, "Dang, you win".

Isn't a bar the last place for a holier-than-thou attitude? Some of the smokers I know would have ended that cute little story with the ex-smoker in a hospital.

Not everyone is holer then thou...

Smoking is a #####, but the only place it will be off limits for is my house and car. anyone can smoke around me outside of those two places, and if I dont like it I will go elsewhere :)

Go, Jeremy. :-) Now just don't do what one of my friends did, quit for four months and then start again. That was dumb.

Way to go Jeremy! Don't mean to scare you but I want to mention something. I lost a co-worker and friend this week to a heart attack. He was only 46 years old and in fair condition, but he smoked 2 packs of Marlboro reds every day. I know he is with God now, but he should have had a longer life.

December 27 1989 Have'nt had a cigarette since. Used to smoke 21/2-3 packs a day. Look at the money I've saved, not to mention my lungs.

Hang in there guy it does get easier. I've been off them for 9 1/2 years. I had a Dr. tell me to cut out smokes or he was going to cut off my leg. I wasn't ready for wheels so I figured it would be wise to quit. One thing I found was to change your habits of how you do things.Like you already said you went to the room without them. That's good. Change how you eat or drink coffee or eat desserts. Small things like that will make a big difference to your habit. Take that money and buy new lures and any thing else you need for having a good day on the water.
Good luck and keep The great Fisherman with you always and he will help the most. BIGRAY

Someday....

Please keep us updated :)

There is a ton of support here, I think its because everyone likes fishermen & women so much they just want us to stay around longer.

I just started taking Wellbutrin and go back to see the Dr. March 7 to finalize a quit date. Probably around Mar.20. I smoke for 25 years so I will follow the Dr. advice.

>Isn't a bar the last place for a holier-than-thou attitude?

Dunno, never been to one. I don't drink, don't smoke.

>Some of the smokers I know would have ended that
>cute little story with the ex-smoker in a hospital.

I guess you hang around a different class of people than I.

Anyway, I thought it was pretty funny when my dad told it to me. I was just a kid and he was an Air Force Colonel. He and his friend of the same rank who had recently quit smoking were in the Officer's Club when it happened. By the way, my dad doesn't drink or smoke either. I don't know the reaction of the man with the crushed cigarettes, but I know he had enough class to see it for what it was. -Dennis@Climbing-Guides.com
