Does anyone know about the Pinpoint 7220? I noticed that its screen is smaller and it has fewer horizontal pixels. How does the unit work and what are the disadvantages that I ought to consider?

Does anybody have this unit? Trying again. It must not be very popular.
Thanks!

Just bought the 7520 and the 7220 week ago, looking at the specs for both the 7220 seems to have about the same identical performance capabilities as the 7520. 3600watts,2meg ram,32bit microproessor, all the main stuff, 7520 may have a few extras, along with the bigger screen(3.5 x 4.6)the 7220's size is (2.4 x 4.4) little smaller. Im gonna run my 7220 up front as a bow mount unit with the trolling motor puck interconnected to my 7520 used for main unit. The 7220 is sale priced at 249.00, and can be used as a standalone unit unlike the 7200.Hope this helps, should be a great unit for the money. k1esoxhtr

How would it do as a console unit with a 7800 on the bow with the 3700 motor?

I HAVE NOT RAN THE 7220 YET BUT IDO HAVE A7520 & A 7820 MY OPINION IS THAT THE 7520 ON THE CONSULE IS MUCH BETTER AND EASIER TO SEE. THE7820 HAS A TALLER SCREEN AND MORE CONSINTRADED PICTZELS MAKING IT TOUGH TO SEE AT MORE THAN TROLLING SPEEDS ALMOST CLUDDERED.

If at all possible walter, get the 7520, everything Ive heard read, researched and I did research extensively, (lot of money to drop at once at least for me). You'll be happy you did down the road, great unit. Although I havent anytime on the water with these units yet, again all the research and archives that Ive looked at say pinpoint hands down! A friend of mine put it nicely saying get the best u can afford and learn to use it well!and of course get on the water. Probably the most overlooked issue affecting our fishing talent is time on the water, which most of us have a limited resource unfortunely. Hope Ive helped.

I have the 7220 in the bow and a 7520 on the console. For now I have them networked together and sharing the transom transducer, so whatever reads on one, also reads on the other. This is done mainly to keep the mouth shut on my noisy fishing buddy(usually in the bow) who would continually ask...how deep? and...markin any? As far as the 7220 goes, it works perfect for the bow. It has great resolution and the pixel difference is horizontal only(because of the narrower screen). I do have the additional transducer and may install it as a thru the hull version, so I could split the screen and read both at once. If I were you, I would put the 78 series where ever you plan to do most of your fishing and the 72 series as the secondary location.
Oh yeah, I love the graphs and would own the motor too if they would implement an autopilot feature.
Good luck.
