Hello, it is Monday evening and we are having a terrible time here at Lake Erie getting rid of the wind. I guess there isn’t anything we can do about it but wait. Yesterday was a blow out. We had 30 to 40 mph west winds all day and all night. Today was the same. Tomorrow is supposed to be the same, maybe not quite as strong tomorrow. The waves will subside to 3 to 5 ft. Then Wednesday the wind will switch to the southwest and slow down to 10 to 20 mph, and warm up to 65 degrees. It will be a nice day Wednesday, but the water will be so screwed up that we probably won’t catch any fish. Then that pesky wind is suppose to be back Thursday, out of the east at 13 with gusts to 25 mph. Friday we are supposed to get more northeast winds blowing 15 to 30mph. Saturday and Sunday looks to be good weather so far, no rain, some sun, temperatures in the high 60’s, and we don’t know about the winds yet. The water clarity will definitely be stained. Hopefully the fish will be hungry because they haven’t eaten for a few days and we will catch a few. We caught fish pretty good Saturday before the wind started Sunday. They caught walleyes west of Catawba until about noon, I guess, then they just shut off. Probably when the front started coming through. Looks like next week is going to be a lot better than this one. We had about this same weather last year at this time. This wind might take a toll on the spawn of the walleye and perch. Most of the spawn didn’t live last year because of the wind. The wind is a little later this year, so maybe some of the spawn will make it. Lets keep out fingers crossed. Good fishing, and good luck, Don.(compliments of hiwaybait.com)
