Did some pencil plug whippen on the St.Claire for walleyes last night. Didn't get a bite until after 11:30pm. But from then till 1:30pm did very well. Anchored on steep ledge 17.8 ft water. Hot colors Silver/Blue Silver/Green White/Silver Scale/Black Head. Big fish about 7 pounds. All caught between Marine City and Algonac Park.

Good Job Capt. I've been checking out your web site for info. on the Sag. Bay & seen that you were going to try the pencil plugging. Kept us abrest on any developments related to the Bay. I Tried (key word) tried, going out of Hoyl's on Sat. afternoon. Rough, Rough, Rough! End result was 1.5 hours of wet & uncomfortable time spent on the water.

Leo.
We are just about to enter that Saginaw Bay (Dead Zone) time frame. In everything I've ever learned about walleyes and the Saginaw Bay imparticular, I cannot explain why from the end of May to about the 3rd week in June, the fish seem to go on vacation somewhere. In the old days this was explained as the time that the walleyes were growing new teeth, so they quit biting. I think it's a recovery time period when they are simply less active. Thats why I love the Tittabawassee and it's Bass opportunities. It falls right in that ZONE.
