I'd appreciate some advice. I have a Shakespeare SE2001 marine radio with weather channels teamed with a good antenna. I've had it for 4 years and it served me well the first two years. I've had problems the last two years with the microphone. The mic is "supposed" to be waterproof, but whenever it's out in a rain for the past two years, the mic doesn't work and I can hear but not transmit until the mic thoroughly dries out. Obviously not a good situation in an emergency. Should I just get a new mic, or upgrade to a better unit that has a good track record for performance in wet weather. I'm making a trip to Lake Erie and two trips to Lake of the Woods this year and I want my radio to work for me. I'm really leaning toward a new radio, so my question in reality is what's everyone's opinion on the most reliable marine radio. I'm happy with my antenna. Thanks in advance.
