I was wondering what type of fish are in Banks Lake. I know they have bass tourneys and walleye tourneys but what other species are there? I was also wondering if anybody knows what the fish(bass or walleye) consume for food?
Thanks in advance

Hi , I used to fish Banks on occation and I was told many times that it has some 21 or 22 species of fish in it. As for the ones I caught there, Walleye, Large and Small mouth Bass, Crappie, Perch, Carp, Trout and Bullheads. There is a great variety of baitfish in there too.
I hope this helps ,
Russ

There are largemouths, smallmouths, walleye, perch, lake whitefish, rainbow trout, and a few landlocked salmon (silvers). There are other species I'm sure, but the majority of the fishermen are chasing bass, walleye, or trout.
Forage includes: the young of the above mentioned species, sculpins, crawfish, assorted invertabrates, and probably many others I've missed.
The lake is long, narrow, and has a propesity to be windswept. You can get into trouble very quickly in a small boat.
My reccomendation would be to call Gordon Steinmetz (509)632-5504. He is a great guy, an excellent guide, and the owner of Big Wally's Bait Shop. Even if you don't require the services of a guide Gordon is more than willing to help you with up to date information. Tell him Doug (from Moses Lake) sent you.

I agree with wawalleye. Gordon Steinmetz and Don Hall are fantastic guides who are not stingy about giving out information to anyone. Banks is frozen over right now. However, I did fish Rufus Woods last weekend and walleye fishing was good.

We fished banks for the first time last year in the spring and heard a lot of talk about Rufus Woods. Where do you launch your boat when you fish Rufus Woods? What are the walleye biting on?
Thanks in advance for any info!
We launched just outside Elmer on the reservation side of the river....about 3 miles downriver from the dam. The fish were biting on jigs but towards the end, we started pulling spinners and they hit those pretty good too. We didnt catch a single fish that wasnt a keeper....what a great weekend. Be prepared for the trout to hit anything you put in the water too though. Have fun.
