the first "big" trip we are going on this year is to Lake Vermilion,MN. I was just wanting to hear about everyone else's "big" trips this year...like canada or salt water, just wondering. We have gone to canada many years past and are going to try vermilion this year..it seems like it will be a great trip..we didnt have much luck in canada...maybe it was the fronts or whatever, but we still had a great time. we have had great luck at lake pepin in MN. I always have enjoyed the scenery and wildlife that is abound while on our week excursions. i think it adds to the total package. Fishing is always the main attraction but where you go and the "extras" help make it special.

Heck I'm hoping to get time to drive the 10 minutes it takes to get to Lake Erie ASAIOH. (as soon as ice out happens) Can't see traveling too far to fish for walleyes, bass, or perch. Might make it to L. St. Clair for a musky trip or two this summer.

Going up from Michigan to Terrace Bay then 80 miles on a gravel road then unload the quads and put the canoe with an inflatible on the quads and go 8 miles back into the bush-carry the canoe over 1 mile and put into a lake-go thru 3 lakes with canoe on a lake and river system then put the inflatible along with a 1.2 HP motor on backpacks with other gear and pack back into an unnamed lake to fish. I am 56 so I take 2 young fellas who work out in the winter carrying 100 plus lbs on a pack to go with me.
I have the big ford with the v10 and winch with the honda quads and all of the gear I buy the gas they cook and carry most of the load. For those of you who have tramped thru the bush in the wilds of Ontario you know that it is very rough going-some stones that we climb over are bigger than round roofed barns down here in michigan and the deadfalls are something else.
We are on lakes that show no sign of having humans there in the recent past- no signs of a chainsaw-camps or anything.
I go up every month may thru the first of oct.
Some of the lakes are easier to reach than others-go west of Manitouwadge some times others north of Terrace Bay. I like that region north of the middle of Superior.

WOW!! sounds like everyone has some great plans this season...lenray it sounds like an incredible adventure you have planned, you must find some great fishing in those lakes..not really been fished before. We went on a trip back in the canadian woods to a fly-in lake but we drove in a big 4-wheel drive ford...but we took a lund "camp" v-bottom and a motor and although it was off the beaten path we still were able to drive on old logging roads and get the truck right to the water....it was different and we caught lots of nice walleyes...even saw a moose back in there..it was pretty cool. it felt like we were someplace that not alot of people have been...but nothing like what you described...be careful and enjoy the untouched wilderness...goodfishn.
