By brother in-law just moved to Golden. Was thinking about heading up to visit in late July. Any good walleye lakes in the area? I will trailer the boat from Illinois if there are, but won't if not. Sorry in advanced for being geographically challenged.

It depends on your fishing style and willingness to venture from Golden. Chatfield is about 30 minutes from Golden (generous estimate) and has plenty of piggies in there but the problem is that its an urban resivior. And while for you midwest types that doens't mean too much around here that means joe schmo is out there on his jet boat and his punk kids are on their jet skis, its a very bad ettiquette situation with lots of full throttle passes by PWCers with tons of artificial wake. If you and your borther would be interested in an overnight or two stay head up to Glendo in Wyoming. Glendo is the resivior that is used for the Western Gettogether, McCounagahy (spelling is bad) is only maybe an hour further then Glendo from Golden and has tons of piggies and a lot more water to avoid PWCers. Hope this helps.

Post closer to trip date to see if there is a solid bite.
