Was at Glendo on Sat 20 June 03 and fishing was slow in my boat. Caught 5 fish between two of us biggest being 3.4lbs. Worked crawler harness in 8 to 15 foot of water. Any tips or suggestions?

Maybe if they are being shy try more of a drift with a floatless Lindy Rig?? We have some fairly skittish fish here in Chatfield and a 1 ounce weight and a long leader with hook and bead is the preffered pattern.

Fishing at night has been great, fish were more scattered this last weekend, set down your beer and give it a try sometime. It takes a few times out to adjust to night fishing, but it's worth it. don't forget to bring a camera because night pictures are the coolest ones.

Which part of the lake are using? My night trips up to 10:00 have been rather disappointing. Are you staying out much later than that.
We are mainly trolling crankbaits in 10-20 ft. Any hints?
Thanks

The bluffs across from Reno Can be "Hot" at times, also Whiskey Gulch, I stick mainly in the south end, some nights there tight to the shore other nights they suspend out over deep water, but usually always are close to the top 1' to 5' down. If you like to cast crankbaits you can pick up alot of fish if you get into a school. I troll to find them. Hope this helps. LOL

Thank you for the info. With the fish that shallow, do they seem to be boat shy. We try to run our planer boards 15-20ft from the boat. Are you running shad baits our minnow baits that shallow, shallow shad raps or thin fins are the only shad baits that I know of that will run shallow with any amount of line out. We plan to get to the lake Wed. nite and stay till Sun morn. Weather may be a little cool.
Thanks

Long line your boat rods, I like jointed floating rapalas, rouges, crystal minnows to name a few, haven't found a stickbait that is to big yet. try some reflective tape up towards the tip section. also put some reflective tape on the boat side of your planer boards. There's plenty of cranks you can use behind your planer boards but it's hard to beat a shad rap, you can choke up the #5 deep divers and use bigger profile shallow ones. For some reason the bigger crankbaits seem to work better at night. Don't bother with the dirty water at night, stick to the clear.

Good songs to listen to when night fishing:
"Nightprowler" ACDC (works really good for big fish)
"Nighttime is the Righttime" George Thorogood (I spelled that wrong)
"Fishin'in the Dark" Nitty Gritty Dirt Band
