Has anyone had any experience with the new Raytheon GPS's? They are supposed to be very accurate with the WAAS system which utilizes land based transmitters to help pinpoint your position. I haven't found much info. on them but they seem good. I just wonder if they have enough of the transmitters around the country to be of use to everyone? I will probably get with the Lowrance 1600 gps real soon; but I was just curious about the other since I had heard that the accuracy could be as good as 3 feet compared to 30'.
The ads/web look(s) really good. Have ordered literature from Raytheon, but haven't received yet. I believe they (WAAS)require another separate signal to increase the accuracy? Is this available in Cananda -Lake of the Woods in particular? Anybody know?

According to a recent article in Great Lakes Angler, the new WAAS system uses a satellite to correct the signal more accurately. DGPS uses land based signals for its corrections. WAAS was orginally developed for the Federal Aviation Administration and was to deliver a minimum accuracy of 25 feet. A 21 day test conducted by Raytheon delivered an accuracy of 1 meter or better, 100% of the time!
