Heading for Bolles Harbor tonight with son and son in law. Any update appreciated. Looks like wind is dying down? Has the temp drop affected their location? Earlier this week some were talking about the shallows. Anything on were they are at this week.

Thanks ahead of time. My son only makes it out with me 1 or 2 times a year with all his other activities: girls, girls, cars and cars. Like to keep him interested and nothing like catching fish to do that.

The area should remain hot. Michigan waters should still hold large numbers of 13-18" fish. For slightly larger fish, I'd recommend the area just north and east of the Sputnick - well into Ohio waters and around 13 miles almost due east out of Bolles. You should get fish here that run a little bit larger. Cranks, spoons, spinners, you name it. Nearly all the hogs have moved far east.

Thanks Tom. I thought the big ones may have moved. My problem is that both the guys with me, buy short time license and will only get Mich for this trip. I have all 3 for Erie. This is my sons first year to have to get one.
Can I still get to 26' water in Mich where they might be, like 8 mi out? Have the wave calmed?
Thanks
Joe

I have not been out since Tuesday. I was fishing near west sister from Saturday through Tuesday. There were no weeds out there. It sounds like things are picking up in front of Fermi. That is where I am going tonight. It is a lot closer run from Sterling State park than it is from bolles. The west winds should clear the weeds up that were a problem last weekend. Good luck, I hope you get your son some fish. I'm going with my dad tonight!!

Thanks. When I get home I'll have to look at the map. Sterling is not that far from Monroe where we are staying.

In general, you can't get to 26 FOW and still be in Michigan waters. From Bolles, if you head due East, you can go 6 miles before you hit the Ohio border. My advice to you would be to stop at one of the Michigan tackle shops in Monroe, they all sell Ohio licenses, and get the 3 day license. It's only a few bucks. Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of eyes in tight, but they're mostly dinks and there may be lots of weeds.
