Just a short note to answer some of the questions that have been posted about the RCL Tournament and to update some.
(1) To be eligible you must be the ORIGINAL owner of a Ranger, Crestliner or Lund qualifying boat. If you purchased your boat after July 1, 1996 and are the original owner, then you have a bonus boat worth 150,000.00 in addition to the 100,000.00 if you win the Pro side. If it is powered by an Evinrude Ficht, that's another 100,000.00 bonus. Total 400,000.00 to win the Pro side.
(2) To qualify from Pro-Am events, the two highest finishing Pro Ranger, Crestliner or Lund owners will qualify to enter the Pro side. The two highest finishing Amateur owners will qualify to enter the Co-Angler side. From TEAM events, the two highest finishing owner teams will qualify. The boater can enter the Pro side and the partner the Co-Angler side if he/she also is a QUALIFYING BOAT OWNER.
(3) If you are fishing as a amateur and own a qualifying boat, but in a tournament you are fishing from a non-qualifying boat as the co-angler, you still retain your eligibility to enter the RCL as one of the highest finishing Amateur's. and bonus money. With the bonus program, you could end up in 200 place and not caught a fish and still win 1,500.00 on the Pro side or 750.00 on the Co-Angler side in bonus money.
(4) There are 4 slots open from each Qualifying event. It is up to you as a angler to get the information from your Tournament Director and get your entry sent in. You could be in 7th, 10th, 15th place or lower and still be in if the places above you were not qualifying owner boats, anglers had previously qualified or the slots are not used. If you or your Tournament Director need more or do not have RCL brochures, please give us a call and we will get them out to you at once. If you have questions about 1999 qualifying, give us a call. You could be eligible to enter the RCL tournament if condition’s were such that you or your tournament director had no information, or the wrong information about the program.
This event is going to give the Sport of Walleye Fishing the recognition that it deserves on a national level and will make history for the sport with a payback of over 1,400,000.00 (includes bonus money) ... that’s right, 1.4 million is there for the anglers in this tournament. October 3-7, 2000 at Green Bay, Wisconsin is the dates. The final arrangements are being made now on lodging, etc. We will have more information available for you all as soon as possible.
I plan to attend as many events as I can and maybe have the chance to talk with some of you in person, but until then this is the best I can do. I will be at the MWT at Trenton, MI and the PWT opener at Port Clinton and will make myself available to talk with as many anglers as I can there.
Hope this helps clear up some of the confusion and to those of you that have sent in you entry you will be receiving correspondence from us shortly and a RCL hat.
