In Utah, most of the lowland lakes (below 4000') don't freeze unless it's a really cold winter. Well, this winter has been really cold and almost all froze. Now the ice is halfway off my favorite walleye lake. It's still February and we don't tyically start catching spawners until March.

What would you do? Where would you fish? What presentations and how deep? Any ideas would be appreciated.

If the ice was coming off my favorite lake, I wouldn't care what time of year it was. Just be glad you can go if you choose to :)

Start looking in the area (deep and shallow) that produces in March. There should be areas that the eyes will prestage. Check every area there is current, creek arms ect. Look for baitfish with your electronics. Heck it's open water!!!! Let the hunt begin. :)
