I will be visiting my relatives and will be bringing my boat. They live in North Oaks. I know of White Bear Lake, and i have heard of Minnetonka. Are either of those worth visiting? Any other lakes within 45 min of North Oaks to visit? I'm looking for Walleye mostly, but would love some smallmouth, northern action too. Thanks.

St. Croix River out of Hudson for good multi-species fishing. Go on a weekday if at all possible. Pleasure boaters make it an absolute zoo on the weekends.

St. Croix for keeping walleye. Good smallouth and sauger too.
Bald Eagle or White Bear if night fishing is your thing for walleye.
Mississipi River through the cities if you like bigger walleyes but catch and release only.
