Planning on going to Pierre next week, how has the fishing been both above and below the dam. Reports for Lake Oahe or Lake Sharp would be helpful.....thanks in advance

Report in the paper this week basically said Oahe ain't worth fishing,
Most of the guides apparently are fishing on Sharpe around the Antelope Creek area. On Oahe, walleyes have gone deep and spread out with the abundant bait fish.

Pulling cranks in the Cheyenne area has been producing some fish. About 35 ft deep. I don`t know much other than that.

Dennis,
We just got back from Pierre yesterday. Two fish Sat (15" & 19") towards Sutton Bay. We talked with a couple of guys and their guide and boat got skunked. We fished the Antelope Creek area Sun and the fishing is slightly better, but the fish are small. Only caught 5 - 14 inchers. I know you can't catch em if you don't go, but I would delay your trip a couple of weeks. The bite on the river should be much better by then.

Walleyes are slow one good point...the Salmon record was broken twice in one week.

Just got back from fishing the weekend at the Akaska area.
Temps were 101 degrees and the walleye were no where to be
seen. Talked to seveal other boats and only a very few fish
were caught on Saturday. I mean you can count them on one
hand. We still had a great time and the fellowship can not
be beat, but it is the time of the year to just relax and not
pressure yourself to have to catch fish. How much do you hate
those walleyes anyway? I am thinking of trying to fly fish all
those carp and silver bass on my next trip and wait for the
walleye bite to improve in a few weeks. Go and have fun,
if it happens it happens. Relax- life is too short.
Have fun,
Bronco
