Kelly,Freebyrd,BraintT,MrTwister,.....et all,
No report from GR as predicted <Fri> cuz work sucked me in (thanks black-out) and no wind for a drift reported via NOAH at 1pm kept me off the water this afternoon. Does anyone that got out in what I call the Ruggles Bowl area Fri wish to report??
I plan to start shallow in 26-28 w/ a friend starting in 37fow. Any feedback we should all use secret decoder ring sequence #1.

GR, gave a call for you on Friday, sorry you had to work. The power deal put a lot of people behind the 8 ball. As for the fishing, lake was decent on Friday with about 1 foot of chop in the morning. We struggled early then about 1:00pm we got a good rain shower. Fish went nuts for about a hour after the rain. For us that was all it took. Same story as always, find a pod and work them over and over again. Ended up with a good cooler of fish, mainly eaters with some bigger ones mixed in. All in all one of the better days I have had of late. Will be back up on Sunday, give me a shout on 79 if you are out. Spoons on Dipseys and Reef Runners, all baits were in the 25ft depth range. Good Luck. Thanks Kelly.
Heard a report of 5lb+ eyes being caught 4 miles due North of Huron River mouth and gave that a try from 7a-10a. Very, very good marks in that area, but we couldn't get a bite. (experiencing problems sending w/ radio)
Made many moves, no action. I needed to get off the water at 1pm. As leaving, Mr.Twister had just put 2 eyes in the box off Cranberry using spoons. Don't know how the bite progressed from there.
Hope to make it out sometime?? Sunday.

Sunday the weather,or shall i say lake, was just outright terrible.Ran from the river to the 25/25 line in 3 to 6 footers and then couldn't find the fish so i decided to head back in with out wetting a line.weather men bothced up the lake forecast (again)
maybe next time

Gary:
We ended up with 6 fish. 1 was around 8 pounds, the rest were 2-4 pounds. We quit in time to get in before the storm hit. I think this week I'm going back to middle sister. A couple of guys whacked em hard again where Mike, and I have been all summer. I'll let you know how we do.

Sat I fished from 8:30 till 2PM. We had a tough day. 29 to 33 feet of water North of the Castle. Kept a dozen eyes. No big ones. No real pattern either. Ran some Reefrunners, spoons, and even a few harnesses. Everything caught a few fish. Heard some better reports in shallower but didn't go there myself. Went to Put In Bay Sat night. Didn't fish Sunday.

MIKE,
Most of mine were "bucket class" that I would have normally tossed back. Sounded like Kenny was doing better from what Den said on the phone. My last hour I headed North and ended up at 27N 28W. Nothing went for me out past 32 fow.

Not the area you guys are talking about, but the bite west of the islands was a slam fest last week. Best August fishing I have ever seen. 2.7 to 2.8 with 20 jets back 65 and 80' and 1 settings on big dipseys at 38', 3's at 55-58'. Colors: Blue Scale Baitfish, Gold Mongoose, Glow Frog, Circus Freak, Yellow Jacket and Raspberry Dolphin were the best. Trolled Sunday, Monday, Thursday and Friday. Casted weapons on both Saturdays last week. All six days were incredible. 48-00 and south.

I trolled that part of the Lake (Huron/Vermillion) for the first time around this time last year. It was awesome. I am still catching nice fish over here in Port Clinton, but imagine it will slow down soon. I have family coming out for a week after Labor Day weekend and we will probably be launching/fishing out of Huron. Hope to share info with you guys on the radio, want to send big brother home with a wall hanger.

Bob,
I didn't know if you were a golfer or not, but I couldn't have "Teed" that one up any better for you if I tried - figured I'd give you a chance to take a shot. At least it only took 12 to fill the bucket - had to quit then as I only had one bucket on board. Couldn't have fit 24 in one bucket...then again the way my day went I'm not sure I would have caught 24 before DARK... :P :P :P

Yeah I'll drive 3 hours to catch bigger perch. They all taste the same I just put 2 on the bun instead of 1 -- taste as good or better :-) There's always a "mine is bigger than yours" guy in every crowd :-)
FishinFever I've also heard that they are heating up around b and c cans and Niagara Reef, but they are not as big as Walnut Creek area in case you want to pull your boat and drive 3 hours to catch perch!!

Although my wife would love to catch 11 to 14 inch perch as I would, I'll stay in our area, the size should start getting better soon. besides after getting a limit of perch the walleye are still in the area and could get both limits on same trip. Thanks for the info.

If you start at the numbers that you stated, be sure to run at least one reefrunner back 125 foot, and maybe even head in a little. try the flame color, or wonderbread, and the pink lemonade. the best speed has been from 2.3 to 2.8 mph.33 to 40 ft of water has been good too. the 25 east/west lines have also been good north of the ruggles area. the stingers have also been working, but lately we have done very good on the cranks. dont be afraid to get in a lot closer too. you may be pleasantly surprised. good luck and good fishin.
