There was a tournament on Lake Thompson (SD) on Sunday, 7th. Anybody know if the results are posted anywhere ? Just curious to see how the fishin' is on Thompson.
The scale broke after weighing just a few fish. So everyone had to go to Mac's to weigh in. The fishing was not very good. I think about half the field goose egged.

I been catching lots of fish at Thompson. Trick has been to stick it out until sundown. I have heard that sunup is productive too. That may be because there are so many people fishing then and so few at 8 pm.
That's pretty typical for Thompson. Even at the worst times you can still catch some nice fish at dark and all night long. I have one more trip scheduled to the grade before the snow flies. All-nighters there are fun.

not that just ticks me off, the first time i fish thompson (SUNDAY) there was a tournament that i never knew about and i had a great day of fishing, easy limit and caught 18 walleyes between 9:30am and 11:00am, my first fish of the day was a piggy that i lost while reeling in, probaly was a northern but it sure felt like a big wally.
oh well thats the way it usually goes.

What methods were you using to catch 18 walleyes in 2 hours when 1/2 of a 40 boat tournament caught 0? Just so you know, dynamite is illegal.

i was pulling lead which quite a few boats seemed to be doing, but everybody was trolling with the wind, i was quartering into the waves sounds kind of dumb but it was the only way i could catch any, i was also away from the packs of boats and the fish came from a very small area, thanks to gps, but it was alot of fun. i thought about dynamite but thought it maybe a little noticeable, i save that stuff for night fishing it makes real pretty light under the water.

i was pulling lead, all the fish came from a very small area and most of the boats that were pulling lead were trolling with the wind, i was quartering into the waves. but then i could be lying because everybody knows that if half the field of a tournament 0's then the fishing must really suck for everybody except for the guy who wins, he would just happen to be lucky!!! Who knows that day might have been my lucky day and it was wasted.

You were fortunate enough to spend a day on Lake Thompson, caught over 18 walleyes...... and your day "was wasted"? Terribly sorry to hear about your unfortunate expieriences.

At Thompson I generally catch all my fish from a small area also. The 14' by 67" directly under my boat.:P
