I am leaving Tuesday for this area for a few days of fishing. Did anybody on this board fish there last weekend? Just wondering how the bite is going. Thanks in advance. Erv.

We fished out about 2 miles from the gap and did pretty good considering the weather we've had lately. Pulled plugs behind downriggers. Also fished the river in front of Wheelers point using jigs and leeches and caught a few fish. Only jig fished for about and hour though, had to go to work. Will hit it again this weekend for sure, maybe sooner if I can.

why would you downrig 2 miles out? your plugs should be adequate alone...thats anywhere from 7-14 feet of water????

We have been doing better on the real small shallow divers than the deep runners, and trolling at about 2.5 mph. The baits won,t dive deep enough without help. Its also easier to keep from tangling lines with other people who are longlining and not paying attention to what they are doing. If you are fishing in 7 ft. of water you are much closer than 2 miles from the gap.
