I recently bought a boat with a depth/fish finder included. Until now, I've always fished from shore and have very little experience with sonar and how to use them and how to read them. Are there any publications or sites that could really help me understand this better (like 'gray line', 'sensitivity', etc.

Sincerely,
Confused!!!!!!!!

Check out www.lowrance.com and go to the "SONAR Tutorial". It gives a really good explanation of sonar philosophy and operation. If you do not have a manual, contact the mfg and see if one is available as well.

Best advice of all - get out and play with it a bunch! Best of luck.

I went to Lowrance website & downloaded a copy of my sonars owners manual. All you need is adobe reader. I think you can download that too there if you dont have it.
